Polling Place Accessibility

The Help America Vote Act requires that States provide polling places for its citizens that are accessible to citizens with disabilities. To date, Delaware has received an additional $400,000.00 from DHHS in accessibility funding. The Delaware State Plan has assigned $1,250,000.00 to this project.

Phase I of the project is completed. The HAVA Task Force and persons representing various groups from the community selected a contractor who completed a needs accessment survey of all curent polling places.

Phase II is the implementation of the survey recommendations. The Commissioner has contracted with the State's Department of Facilities Management, Engineering and Operations, to provide a skilled manager for this project.
