Ways to Vote in Delaware
Absentee Voting
(if you are eligible, includes permanent absentee voting)You may vote by absentee ballot if you are unable to appear at your assigned polling place on Election Day for a reason permitted by State law.
How to Apply for an Absentee Ballot:
You may apply for an absentee ballot using one of the following options:
- Complete and submit an absentee ballot application on the State's Voter Portal.
- Download and print an absentee ballot application. Complete and submit your application to the Department.
- Call your county elections office for an absentee ballot application to be sent to you to complete and return to the Department.
Absentee Voting Deadlines:
- The last day the Department can mail absentee ballots is not less than 4 days prior to an election.
- Your voted absentee ballot must be returned to your county Department of Elections office by 8PM Election Day. Absentee Ballots cannot be returned to Early Voting Sites or Polling Places.

Where you may return your voted absentee ballot:
Return your absentee ballot to the main Department of Elections office in the county in which you live. Absentee ballots are not accepted at early voting sites and polling places. Please see a listing of Department main offices that accept voted absentee ballots:

You must return your completed, signed, and dated absentee ballot to your county Department of Elections main office by 8PM on Election Day, November 5, 2024 in order to count.
Early Voting
Early Voting at an Early Voting Site prior to Election Day:

- Voters' eligibility to vote is verified by Election Officers.
- Voters sign the pollbook.
- Voters vote their ballot on Delaware's fully accessible/ADA compliant ExpressVote XL voting machine.
Election Day Voting
Election Day Voting at Your Assigned Polling Place:
You may vote in person at your assigned Polling Place on Election Day. Polls are open from 7AM – 8PM on Election Day.How to find your assigned Polling Place:
- Use the Voter Portal to find your Polling Place.
- Find your assigned Polling Place using the Department's GIS-Based Polling Place Lookup Tool.
- Your assigned Polling Place is listed on your Polling Place Card.
- Lists of Delaware Polling Places are available on the Voting Locations webpage.
The voting process for Election Day voting:
- Voters must vote at their assigned Polling Place on Election Day. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Voters' eligibility to vote is verified by Election Officers.
- Voters sign the pollbook.
- Voters vote their ballot on Delaware’s fully accessible/ADA compliant ExpressVote XL voting machine.
